About the Author
Jim Davis was born on July 28, 1945, in Marion, Indiana. He later attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where he distinguished himself by earning one of the lowest cumulative grade point averages in the history of the university. The Garfield strip was born on June 19, 1978, syndicated in forty-one U.S. newspapers. Today it’s syndicated in more than 2,100 newspapers worldwide with more than 200 million readers, leading Guinness World Records to name Garfield The Most Widely Syndicated Comic Strip in the World. Davis has had many successes with Garfield, including four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program and induction into the Licensing Hall of Fame (1998), but his most prized awards are from his peers in the National Cartoonist Society: Best Humor Strip (1981 and 1985), the Elzie Segar Award (1990), and the coveted Reuben Award (1990) for overall excellence in cartooning.

My 7 year old daughter loves these Garfield Fat Cat 3-packs. She has been spending at least an hour each evening soaking in the lasagna loving cat comics. One item to note is that pack #10, 11 and 12 are slightly less tall books and are in black and white. The others have been in color.
I collected these when I was a teenager but they fell apart from wear. Make sure you get the "fat cat 3-pack" instead of the single titles, or you will probably get repeat comics.
I was ordering a few Garfield books for my son when I scrolled past this. It's a pretty good deal considering your getting 3 full books for a few dollars more than the price of one. I wish, however, that I'd ordered them individually! They're super thick & awkward to hold. Of course though, he comic itself was great!
The cat with human hands is back to make us laugh. he'll dazzle, he'll shine, he'll entertain us all the time. presented only in black and white but still get's the message through the same way. Very funny enjoy.
I gave this book to my 10 year old son (a big fan of Garfield) and he says it's awesome. The book is paperback, black-and-white, and on a pretty gray paper, but the quality is good. He did not want the colored version saying that black-and-white is authentic. As for the cartoons themselves, they are a timeless classic, as good as usual.
My boys 8 and 10 love to read and they do read a lot of different things. But for their fun reading time, not their school assigned reading time they love reading these. My husband had some as a child that they have read over and over so I was looking for some others for variety. As some reviewers have pointed out I am not sure how well the binding will hold up on the long term, especially since they drag them everywhere they go...but for me that is a small issue compared to the joy my boys get from reading these.
What can I say, if you are a Garfield lover, then these are the books for you. We have three of these books and they are used on a regular basis. Haven't had any issues with them falling apart. Nice comic book to improve vocabulary for school aged children.
I recently bought several of these books from the Garfield collection for my daughter. She loves Jim Davis, his work, and these books!
