Great recipes, did I mentioned they taste great!!

In the book and in everything I have read it states to avoid garlic, yet a lot of the recipes call for garlic. Am very confused and feel the recipes are very contradictory.

The Lupus Cookbook focuses on Anti-Inflammatory recipes for those with Lupus, while taking into consideration the challenges that a Lupus Diagnosis presents - especially Fatigue. The recipes are very easy to follow, especially the smoothies and the ones for different vegetables. I made the Roasted Cauliflower and I had never thought of cutting the Cauliflower into slices before roasting, which made it take less time and get crispy. My children even called them "Cauli-fries".Included in the book is a written description of all the different aspects of the best diet for those suffering from Lupus. It is written in a way that allows for hope, while not promising a "cure" like many other popular books do these days. It does state that Lupus can go into remission, however, especially with a good, anti-inflammatory diet. The recipes use AIP principles to achieve this diet, and would be a good start for anyone exploring the diet/disease relationship with autoimmune conditions.The author of the book states that she has suffered from autoimmune issues and the AIP diet helped her to feel better, which motivated her to write this book for those who suffer from Lupus, one of the many autoimmune conditions out there. While I do not have Lupus specifically, I suffer from other health conditions and the recipes are very helpful for those days when I am fatigued and do not feel like doing anything. I had a close friend who passed away from Lupus complications and I am very passionate about helping others with autoimmune diseases feel better using diet and nutrition therapy. I think this book is a great place to start if that's what you're looking to do.Note: I received a copy of the book for my review. No other compensation was provided. Opinions are my own.

This is more than just a collection of tasty recipes. This cookbook is an amazing resource to understanding the root causes of inflammation and how to combat it with easy-to-prepare foods. And this cookbook is for anyone who wishes to use the Anti-Inflammatory Diet (AID). So don't be dissuaded by the title; while I do not have Lupus, as a severely anemic ultramarathon runner and weight lifter, I often suffer from similar symptoms (inflammation, fatigue, etc.), and following the AID as outlined in this book has helped me tremendously.The author starts with a terrific information section outlining the goals and benefits of AID, and -- one of my favorite features -- lists out the "best" and "worst" foods for reducing inflammation. There is also a great list of pantry and cooking equipment "staples" that are useful to have on hand. The section ends with a helpful guide to eating out, outlining some easy foods to order when you go out to eat; the author keeps it real because we all go out!The recipes are easy to follow, creative (Jicama Oven Fries was especially creative), and, best of all, taste great. All of the recipes contain helpful substitution hints and tips, and are all grain free. Grain-Free Pumpkin Pancakes? Yes, please! How about a Plantain Wrap to sub for grain-heavy tortillas? They turned out perfectly. The Cantaloupe Mint Smoothie was an unexpectedly tasty combination (who knew you could make smoothies with melons?!) and the Breakfast Green Soup was yummy on cool mornings.I have already recommended this book to other athletes and will continue to use it.Note: I received a copy of the book for my review. I was totally engaged while reading this book as the author made me feel like I was her most important client and best friend. The Lupus Cookbook, although written for a particular health issue can be used by anyone suffering from symptoms caused by inflammation. The author nicely explains the connection between lupus, inflammation and diet. There are 125 great recipes that are very easy to prepare, especially when one may not feel like cooking due to active symptoms. The recipes not only include nutrition information but include helpful information on when they can be used for such as fatigue or a flare. The author even included an index to find recipes by symptom or dietary need. The categories of recipes are very helpful when looking for a specific recipe such as something plant based or a dressing or sauce to add flavor to foods. There are several guides to help the reader understand the effect of medications, fermented foods, a quick glance at the anti-inflammatory diet, and eating out. I highly recommend this book for anyone suffering from symptoms caused by inflammation. I am very excited about recommending this book to others as well as trying all of the recipes in the book.Note: I received a copy of the book for my review. No other compensation was provided. This is groundbreaking work on the rise and fall of cities, states and empires straddling both the Niger and Senegal rivers, and it provides a vital understanding of the political, religious and cultural dynamics of the Sahel region generally, beginning with the emergence of urban centers like Jenne Jeno, Gao and Kanem. Best of all, it richly illustrates how West Africa, with its dense trade networks, of salt, gold and slaves, and its ambitions for exploration and power, was anything but some isolated tabula rasa in the centuries preceding the 15th century arrival of the Portuguese. It is frustratingly hard to read in patches, blending truly formidable scholarship with excessive wordiness. But for anyone interested in this era in African or indeed in global history, well worth the effort. Gomez reputation as a leading scholar of Africa and its diaspora is richly deserved. Btw, his Exchanging our Country Masks: The Transformation of African Identities in the Colonial and Antebellum South, is another work of high scholarship.

This is a very comprehensive work on medieval Africa, a topic that is seriously understudied. The author is extremely intelligent and knows what he’s talking about, perhaps too much so. This is clearly not an introductory text, as the author uses highly technical Islamic terms with little explanation, and he goes into detail on the sources he uses. The text is rather dry, so I would not recommend this for lay reading. It would probably serve better for graduate students in a course on the subject. Nevertheless, if you are serious about the subject, this is an excellent source of information.

First of all, I can't believe that I am writing the first customer review of this absolutely outstanding work. I've just passed page 210 and it is by far one of the most thorough history texts I have ever read. I'll come back to flesh out the review when I have finished but I wanted to do the author a solid and give him a review. This has to be the most comprehensive history of West Africa ever written. The way Gomez interrogates and utilizes the source material is astounding. Extracting value from Griots, Arab travelers and domestic historians presents an extremely detailed and yet also nuanced picture of West Africa before European contact. How this is not at the top of the Amazon ratings given the recent success of Black Panther I don't understand. If looking at fictional Wakanda made you curious about historical African Empires I can't think of a better work.

About the Author

Tom Dirlis arrived in Prague in the spring of 1999 and fell in love with the city’s charm and mystique at first sight. He felt compelled to stay and began supporting himself by writing numerous travel and opinion pieces for local publications, as well as marketing copy for multinational corporations. Prague Like a LocalEverybody knows what the main sights, bars, and restaurants are, but what if you’d like to live like a local? Eat, drink, and stroll where they do—here are a few local tips.Day 1Start your day with an affordable breakfast and bottomless cup of coffee at Bohemia Bagel by Charles Bridge. Pick up an extra bagel or two if you like because you’ll be doing a lot of walking. Start with the streets of Malá Strana (Lesser Town) and work your way through Kampa Island over to Petrín Hill. Take the funicular or do as the brave do and make your way slowly up the hill on foot, resting and admiring the view below as often as you like. When you get to the top, stroll through the large grounds and, if you have the energy, climb up Petrín Lookout Tower for an excellent panoramic view. Grab a delicious and healthy lunch at Malý Buddha, then continue on to the castle. When you’re done there, leave the tourist hordes behind and head on over for more peaceful walking through both Wallenstein Gardens and Vojan Park, and say hello to the peacocks in the latter. Enjoy a delicious Balkan dinner at the unbeatable Gitanes, and when you’re ready to rock and roll with the local contingent, start drinking at Klub Újezd, where anything goes. If something a little more upscale is to your liking, get on over to Blue Light for cocktails and impromptu conversations. Both bars stay open until very late, so dig in and get ready to party like a Bohemian.Day 2Enjoy breakfast at the charming Café Louvre, then make your way to Stromovka Park, one of Prague’s more serene getaways, where you can breathe in the fresh air and clear your head among laughing children, playful dogs, and the fortunate locals who don’t have a day job. Come out on the end where Výstavište is located and take your pick from amusement rides, the Lapidárium, or Sea World. Have lunch at one of the local restaurants and walk it off with a romantic stroll through Letná Park before grabbing a picnic bench at its popular beer garden for informal drinks and excellent views of the city below. Have a fun dinner at local favorite Hostinec na Staré Kovárne before moving a couple of doors down to Fraktal, where free-form conversation comes more naturally than you might think. Order a beer. Drink. Repeat.Day 3Take your pick from the countless restaurants along Wenceslas Square and have breakfast while watching the people go by. Next, it’s shopping along Na Príkope Street whose boutiques, malls, and specialty shops will easily keep you busy till lunch. For a real local experience, break bread at U Govindy Vegetarian Club. Spend a few hours browsing the myriad of shops lining both Celetná and Parížská Streets, picking up gifts and mooning over outfits you can’t afford. Have a cup of coffee with local artists and students at Café Montmartre, then explore the back streets of Staré Mesto (Old Town) while asking yourself if a downtown core can really be this beautiful. An exotic dinner at Zebra Asian Noodle Bar will provide the sturdy base you’ll need for drinks at the always fun and rowdy Harley’s Bar. If cocktails and the in-crowd are more your speed, then a night at M1 Secret Lounge should do the trick.

Even with an excellent library just down the street, my shelves are full of Moon Handbooks, Eyewitness Travel Guides, Insight Guides, Lonely Planet, National Geographic Traveler, etc. Very often, my book(s) of choice for the trip includes the Moon Handbook, this was one of the few exceptions. I think the book contains all the right information but, for me, the book was hard to navigate. If I was looking for a particular sight and didn't know what part of town it was located in, especially like a bridge that connected two parts of town, I was forever going to the index and searching for the closest name I could find. If you are going to organize a guide book for a city like Prague and divide it into seven parts (one for each district) then the guide book should clearly indicate which district you are in as you as you page through the book. Section headings do exist but they are buried in the text and unless you remember that Stare Mesto is "Old Town" or are lucky enough to locate a heading with Old Town in parentheses you will be headed back to the index or will be looking for a hotel in the wrong part of town. It also bothered me that all the section headings used the local language and the English translations followed in parentheses which made them harder for me to locate. Having been to Prague & Budapest I am convinced that book contains all the right information and, like most Moon Handbooks, gives great insight into the area and its culture. Unfortunately, for me, it was just hard to quickly find what I needed.

really just a lousy travel book. i will stick with fodors, frommers, and lonely planet from now on. i only bought this because it had 2 cities that i was going to. horribly organized. i ended up using a free book that i got from a taxi company which was far superior and left this one in the hotel trash!

Maps are pretty good but could be better. I'd like more on subway systems.

Too basic for our needs. We wanted more detail about sites than details about where things were I guess. Just didn't meet our needs.

I travel a lot and typically buy Rick Steve's or the Lonely Planet books. On a recent trip we were going to Prague and Budapest, so this book was the perfect fit covering both cities. I regret buying it and would have been better off buying both the Prague and Budapest books by a different author.We found much of the information to be incorrect. For example, for a day trip to Terezin from Prague the book sends you the wrong bus station. When we arrived the ticket agent informed us that busses to Terezin do not leave from that station and gave us subway directions to the correct bus station. Many of the opening/closing hours of tourist sites were completely wrong. The book also failed to mention that many of the sites, especially day trips from Prague and Budapest are closed in the winter. Luckily we had great wi-fi in our hotel room and quickly learned to visit the web-site before visiting sites as the book was almost always inaccurate in some way.I'm really angry that this book was so inaccurate. I understand that prices and hours of operation change, so there will always be some discrepancies, but much of this book was so far wrong I really question whether the author ever went to these places. We wasted good vacation time by using inaccurate maps and relying on false information. I will never buy a "moon" book again and stick with the travel books I know I can rely on.

This book's coverage of Prague is good and helped us organize an enjoyable 3-day visit. I am however convinced that the author has never set food in Budapest. Several restaurants were misplaced: Fausto's and Abszint. Al Amir and Mandarin were nowhere to be found. The highlighted 'scromptuous, gut-busting pancakes' of Nagyi Palacsintazoja are...crepes! Standard, microwaved, crepes that you can find in pretty much every train station in Europe. (Yes, they were good). This made for a very disappointing tour of the restaurant scene in Pest.

This whole series is impressively magical as well as enchanting. I was curious about Cagney's relationship with his sister since they play so ruthlessly with each other, wow. However, I was happy to see that Briec has an admirer, which I hope progresses throughout each addition of the series. Cagney and Guthrie (ghostly) were so cute together, and witty, especially when one of them was invisible throughout the beginning of the story. The characters were well conveyed, the romance was charming, and the plot held my attention. Excited to read the next book in this series (and the, Chosen,). =)

Kissing the invisible man. Absolutely priceless. I cannot wait to see what happens with Seeley though. A troll... always an interesting love interest. I did feel like there was a small hole with a slightly vindictive brother left out there in the face realm.

This story was sweet and cute of course we find out a little more about Gunthrie . We also come a bit closer as to finding out who's responsible for the drugs. They introduced a new character in this book and look forward to them having a story .

I love that this group of friends just keeps growing! The steamy scenes are awesome. It's no small torture waiting for the next book.

This one was really cute. I liked the idea of Guthrie being invisible and pulling little pranks on Cagney. And man I hope Laramy and Briec get a book lol

This one had me laughing so hard I had tears. The couple had a very weird relationship but it was a good weird. I loved it

Carney finally gets his mischievous ghost. Ruling Carney is a quick light read for those days you need a break from all the drama.

This is a wonderful guide & the fact that it is illustrated with photos of Tibetan people is a big plus.

I am very happy with the book I received, "The Illustrated Tibetan book of the Dead". It arrived in excellent condition and in a timely manner.

i got this book as a present to a freind who's very into eastren philosophies, he already read parts of the tibetian book of the dead, and i thought that having that followed with photos of tibet might ad another level of understanding to his studing.first of all this book doesn't contain all the texts from the original book, and so, it gives a good over all look to this approach to life, and a nice introdaction t the subject, but not too much information on top of that, it's lacking a lot of the major asppects of this approach.the photos are very predictable and sort of westernly matched to the texts - like a photo of a dark sky with light peeking through in a paragraph about higher power, which to me knowladge doesn't really match the concept of higher powen in the tibetian approach. the photos themself are very nice and very turistic, nothing you can't find in a postcard rack in some tibetian gift shop, if such thing exsist.my recoomentation - if you are looking to get familier with this text - get the non illustrated full book of the dead, and if you are looking to see nice photos of tibet, there are quite a lot photo albums which are better in both quality of phtography and printing, and choice of subject.it's a pretty nice intrudaction to the country and phylosophy, but i haven't find anything too exciting about this book.

The teaching takes you through each day of the bardo of death with a comprehensive commentary. For anyone with prior Buddhist understanding, the transition between life & death detailed in this book will not come as a shock. However, for those with no prior knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism it would probably be wise to start somewhere else like the 'Tibetan Book of Living & Dying' by Sogyal Rinpoche.Do not be put off by thinking that this is a book just about dying. Although it is essentially a guide for the dead, it is also a guide for the living.

Dylan Allen is truly an unstoppable and creative genius. The Legend is a flawlessly written masterpiece. The storyline flows effortlessly and everything about this book is still lingering in my mind in such a wonderful way. I was sucked into Remi and Kal’s beautiful love story and I devoured it within hours. Remi invaded my mind, heart and soul. I was intrigued by him in The Legacy and I was beyond thrilled as he turned out to be so much more in this book. Kal’s character was cleverly written, she’s admirable and exudes strength and courage. It was impossible not to feel an immediate connection with these two and their chemistry was off the charts.The Legend’s plot is emotionally charged, filled with angst and is climatic in more ways than one. I endured a whirlwind of emotions while reading this book. Remi and Kal complimented each other well as their romance was intense, passionate and intoxicating. They made my heart flutter with their flirty behavior and romantic gestures. And the magic they created between the sheets was wild and scorching!!Another compliment to this book is the shocking plot twists!! It took a few minutes for me to pick my jaw off the ground after reading them. I definitely couldn’t have predicted those secret revelations. This book is without a doubt one of my top favorite books that I’ve read so far this year.

Epic Love...they had it in spades!!! Remi’s story was a roller coaster of emotions...a ride I never wanted to end!The first time they met bonded them for life. Timing just never seemed to be on their side. They both had to live through their own hell to finally get the love that they both deserved...together!Remington Wilde was bred to lead his family. To run the family business and be legendary in their town. However, Remi had plans of his own!Kal had her own dreams but getting there was going to be a struggle. She came from meager beginnings and a struggling single mother whose solution was to find a wealthy man.Two kids who made a lasting impact on one another. They would be in and out of each other’s lives for the next twenty years. This story definitely tore me apart and broke my heart...more than once! But it also made Kal & Remi’s love and their union that much sweeter!This love story spanned decades and began to develop when they were in middle school. It started as two people who bonded because of their lackluster home life. A love that flourished when they were reunited in high school. Then torn apart by lies and deceit, their path was forever changed. But a love like their’s, always finds a way back.Book three cannot come soon enough. Rivers Wilde is one of my favorite places to visit.

Oh this book!!!! It's stunning and amazing and I can't stop thinking about it!! Days later and I still have all of the feels!! Dylan Allen has this way of taking a story and spinning and twisting it with angst, intrigue and romance. She did this so perfectly with Remi and Kal. Remi is the Wilde heir. Raised to be a legend, like his father. Kal is from the other side of the tracks living with the mistakes her mom has made. They were perfect for each other. Unfortunately his family didn't think so. So many lies and so much manipulation but oh what a HEA!! I finished this book and all I could say was wow, just wow.

The Legend by Dylan AllenIs the second book in the Rivers Wilde series. It can be read as a stand-alone. But to really enjoy the story and have a better love for the characters. I recommend you read Legacy first.Holy wow this was a beautiful story. Oh my god Remi. From the first start I fell for him and was rooting for him from the beginning. Kal you want her to get back to her Remi. Yes there is going to moments you want to smack one of the characters. Mostly the mothers of both the main characters. I loved Hayes in the first book but Remi capture my heart took his place. In order to know more you have to take the chance and read the series and devour the story. The Legend is rightfully name because you need to get to know Remington Wilde the Legend.

This book is a page turner!Dylan Allen did an amazing job building this fast moving, complicated tale that spans decades filled with twist, turns and manipulation.It will grab you from page one and hold you hostage until the last. The need to know how this well tangled web of deceit and lies will all unfold was all encompassing!You will easily fall in love with Remi and Kal and find yourself rooting for them to find their way to their happily ever after no matter the obstacles thrown at them, and there were many!
